Kanji #016 / 兄












< TYPE >
Kanji / ka i - sho style

< READING >
The japanese reading : a ni
The sound reading : ke i, kyo u

< MEANING >
older brother, words we love and respect a friend

< ORIGIN >
hierogryph
The letter which expressed a child of the big head. This kanji includes a meaning to be big.

< USE >
兄弟(kyo u - da i):brothers
父兄(fu - ke i):parents
兄事(ke i - ji):worship it to fight against an older brother


example) 彼は私の兄です。[ ka re wa wa ta si no a ni de su.] He is my brother.

< MEANING >
mother, the root that produces things, the woman who substitutes for the mother

< ORIGIN >
hierogryph
The kanji that expressed the nipple of a woman and the woman.
This develops into the meaning that ''bear a child and bring up''.

< USE >
酵母(ko u - bo):yeast
母国(bo - ko ku):mother country
伯母(o ba):aunt ( older sister of parents )
叔母(o ba):aunt ( younger sister of parents )

example) 彼女は私の母です。[ ka no - jo wa wa ta si no ha ha de su.] She is my mother.

< MEANING >
father, aged man, man of the elder, person like father

< ORIGIN >
The kanji that expressed a figure to hit with a stone ax in a hand

< USE >
神父(si n - pu):the father ( of the church )
漁夫(gyo - fu):fisherman
伯父(o ji):uncle ( older brother of father )
叔父(o ji):uncle ( younger brother of father )

example) 彼は私の父です。[ ka re wa wa ta si no chi chi de su.] He is my father.

Kanji #013 / 彼等

The sound reading:hi to ( si i )
The sound reading : to u

< MEANING >
○彼等
they, their, them, theirs
○彼
he, his, him, word to express a thing in the other side, that, there, those people
○等
equal, kind, words to express that there is the same thing else.

< ORIGIN >
○彼
「left part」+「皮」
「left part」: go
「皮」: skin ( A state to push away the skin which tanned hanging down over there by hand. )
Push it away diagonally over there from this place. This develops into a meaning of ''other side'', ''that place''
○等
「upper part」+「寺」
「upper part」: bamboo
「寺」: temple, government office
The state that keeps the distance of the knob of the bamboo equally. Somebody fixe it with the same thing.
There are not the direct relations with ''寺''.

同等(do u - to u):equal, equal class

"彼等 ( they ) " is made by combining "彼 ( those people ) " with "等 ( equal )".

About "he" "she" "they", "彼" becomes basic entirely.
''彼'' ( alone ) : he
''彼女'' ( woman limitation ) : she
''彼等'' ( do not limit man and woman ) : they
