< READING >
The japanese reading : ga i, ka i
The sound reading : ka ( ru )

< MEANING >
cut, harvest a plant, reap, shear, mow, cut hair into short pieces

< ORIGIN >
「メ」+「刂」
メ : hieroglyph. Form of shears to use with both hands.
刂 : sword, knife, tool to cut

< USE >
稲刈り [i ne - ka - ri] : harvesting rice
五分刈り [go - bu - ga - ri] : close haircut

example) 私は羊の毛を刈ります。 [ wa ta si - wa - hi tsu ji - no - ke - wo - ka - ri ma su. ] I shear sheep.
